Artist bluff is a 1.5 mile loop trail with an elevation gain of 436 feet in franconia notch state park. It was a tiny distance in comparison to our first hike, however it provided beautiful views of lake echo and the surrounding mountains.

Artist's bluff loop is a popular dog friendly hike in franconia. We read over and over that these two hikes offered some of the most rewarding views of franconia notch. The ranger mentioned to us that some of the lots for the popular trails can fill up early in the morning during summer weekends, but he said that artist bluff/bald knob trail is good if you want to get a later start since the ski lot can hold more than 500 cars.

A day of two hikes did not tire us out, so we continued to mt. The best lookout is towards the end of the hike,it was really foggy and rainy when we went so we couldn’t really see the mountains but you get an awesome view of the lake below. The trail is unpaved, compacted soil and is perfect for an escape to nature!

I did the entire loop and went clockwise which was a mistake but it gave me the artists bluff view at the end which was a fantastic surprise.
